Met Gala 2012 - Hot, Warm, Cold.

The Metropolitan Costume Institute Gala (Met Ball) also known as "Oscars of the East Coast", is an annual ball that celebrates the annual opening of the Metropolitan Museum's fashion exhibit .The red carpet evening where celebrities arrive dressed to impress is described as the fashion industry's "Night of Nights". This year's theme was “Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations”.
Here we'll give our individual opinions about the Met Gala 2012's Hot = awesome,  Warm = not too good, not too bad, Cold = horrible.

 They scorched the Red Carpet!
1.Carrey Mulligan.

The British actress looked sensational wearing a custom two-tone gold-and-silver Prada halter dress covered with paillettes. Her dress with a pleated detail at the back was styled with satin Prada pumps and a simple updo with a rockabilly twist.
Both : She killed us with her look!

2. January Jones.

January Jones picked a bright yellow Versace number for this evening's Met Gala.
Both : We have developed a crush on
her! She nailed it with her structured dress, the color looks beautiful on her and her turquoise jewellery works with the dress.

3.Camilla Belle

The actress looked stunning wearing a Ralph Lauren Spring 2012 gown. Her ivory tulle beaded dress was teamed with Ralph Lauren vintage collection art deco jewels. Ralph Lauren collection champagne python sandal with bamboo heel completed her look.
Both : With the right twist of vintage and class Camilla look was fab. We love the styling which included a sleek side bun, shimmer copper eyes and that hot chocolate lip colour.

4.Jessica Stam.
Camilla Wore a pale blue Dior Couture, with stacked arm candy on either sides. Top bun, complementing makeup and earring completed the look.
Both : This lady undoubtedly stole the show with her awesomeness. Her makeup, her jewellry  and her dress was to the top. It's unfortunate that no one appreciated as much as she deserved!
5. Solange Knowles

Knowles wore a Rachel Roy sunny yellow peplum gown with gold accessories. She kept it simple with natural makeup and hair.
Both : We love the fact that she paid attention to her accessories. Her dress was a beautiful colour with worked really well with the skin tone. What we loved the most was her amazing natural curls and not over done make up.

6. Jessica Pare

Jessica wore a gold sequin L'Wren Scott gown. Her slicked-back hair left ample room to showcase a pair of  stud earrings.A sleek black clutch in hand finished the look.
Both : The newcomer made a stunning arrival at the Met Gala in a gold-sequin gown. The scoop neck and curve-conscious fit created a sexy hourglass silhouette. She looks ravishing, need we say more?

7. Rihanna

Rihanna is in Tom Ford.
Both : Rihanna does the sleek and minimal look which totally works in her favour. Yet she makes a statement with the black croc skin gown. Her back stole the show!

8. Ashley Greene

Ashley Greene is in a Donna Karan white sequined gown. Silver clutch and drop earrings completed her look.
Both : She looks drop dead gorgeous in that outfit. The accessories, hair, makeup was to the mark.

9. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Rosie is in Burberry. Bronze clutch, statement earring and a top bun completed the look.
Both : What is not to love about this look? It's minimal and effective. We loved the vintage top bun and statement earrings. Also love how the gown trails behind.

 10. Renée Zellweger.

Renée Zellweger in EmilioPucci.
Both : We were awe struck when we saw her. She looks gorgeous in that amazing gown. The backless, the sheer, feather and the gold accents made the gown work in her favour.

Not so good, not so bad.

1. Hilary Swank

Hilary Swank in Michael Kors red gown. The earrings, beutiful waves and clutch added to the look.
Diana : Loved the side swept hair, earrings and the red gown was gorgeous.
Rachana : As much as I loved the gown the entire look is not my favourite.

2. Marion Cotillard.

Marion Cotillard in Dior and black accessories.
Diana: Love the sheer, two toned gown. She looks adorable in the pixie hair do.
Rachana: Love, love, love the gown but the hair looked kind of drab and the accessories didn't do much good either.

3. Coco Rocha

Coco Rocha in Vintage Givenchy and Sergio Rossi satin platform pumps and a gold clutch
Diana: Such a beautiful woman but what's wit the outfit? She could do so much better! Love the hair though.
Rachana: The colours, the print, the shoes and that gorgeous pink streaks are my absolute favourites. I think this look should definitely be in the 'hot' category.

4. Karolina Kurkova

Karolina Kurkova is in Rachel Zoe's custom-made gold-sequined gown. The supermodel topped it  with a coordinating turban and finished it with a display of diamond bangles and rings.
Both: There is too much going on here! Individually the pieces would have looked good. Love the back and her jewellery.

These are the people who gave us cold feet! :O

1.Lana del Rey

Lana del Rey in Altuzarra.
Both: Someone seems to be influenced by Twilight! She has the bling, the cape and the brown lips in place. Kristen darling you've got tough competition here! ;)

2.  Elizabeth Banks

Elizabeth Banks in  Mary Katranzou.
Both: A failed attempt at futuristic fashion. Too much of prints going on here!

3. Lena Dunham

Both: Classic case of bad styling.

4. Chloe Sevigny

Chloe Sevigny in Miu Miu black mirrored geometric patchwork mini dress.
Both: Mirror mirror on the wall, who's the prettiest of them all? Surely not you! :P

5. Beyonce Knowles

Beyonce Knowles in Givenchy Haute Couture gown.
Both: Beyonce, we love you and your makeup but what's with the gown?

6. Anna Wintour

Anna Wintour Vogue's editor-in-chief in an Elsa Schiaparelli-inspired Prada lobster dress
Both: Seriously? Vogue? SERIOUSLY? Well we can only say we are not going to follow this trend anytime soon.

7.  Amy Poehler

Amy Poehler in a black laser cut leather lace peplum corseted Fotini gown with feathered bottom, Jimmy Choo shoes and Tiffany & Co. jewels.

Both: We get it you love following trends but what's with the overload of it? There's leather, lace, feathers and peplum - you are a cocktail of trends Amy! :)

8. Mary Kate Olsen

Mary-Kate Olsen in a black long sleeve look by her label, The Row.
Both: We are not too shocked with this look. When has Mary Kate ever looked normal? And looks like Mary Kate didn't get time for a hair wash! :(

9. Alexa Chung

Alexa Chung in Marc Jacobs
Both: It's a pity that she features on our worst dressed list but bad things happen to good people. We'll let you know when we figure this look out! :O

10. Christina Ricci

Christina Ricci in Thakoon.
Both: We just found the perfect curtains for our room! :D Oh wait! That's Christina's dress! :O

  11. I am loving what January Jones is wearing. However Beyonce is making me sad :'(

Well about Anna Wintour...err the design could have been more fierce...it looks like a bland curry to me :|

And I love Thakoon's collection...and all I got to say it, his dress was meant for a taller frame, and that is why the dress failed miserably on Christina!! Oh well!!

  12. I really like Camilla Belle's gown, her vampy lipstick is awesome too - I want some!

I agree, such a shame about Beyonce's choice, as she usually looks incredible!

  13. There is a reason why its called the Metropolitan Costume Institute Gala.. Its all about taking risks..
Although I'll have to agree with your 'cold feet' list..

However I loved Coco Rocha's.. That outfit was pre-owned by Elizabeth Taylor and was bought at an auction. Coco left it the way it was, without altering it or even removing a red wine stain she found on it, since she is a big Taylor fan!
