Did you Know?

When we were invited for an event to check out Imran Khan's collection for Denizen, we were a little skeptical. Not because we didn't love Imran (of course we do!) but because we've often see how a well known celebrity just lends his name to a collection without actually contributing to it, which is always very disappointing! We went anyway just to meet the chocolate boy ;) and were happy to see how personalized his collection is.

For instance,
1) Imran is the inquisitive kinds and is always teased by his friends as 'Wikipedia' so he came out with this range of cool T-shirts with the phrase 'Did you know?' on it.
2) Imran loves the colour red and tried incorporating it in his collection in varied ways like, the red rivet on the coin pocket, and the last button of all the shirts are red (which look really funky btw!)
3) Also since Imran love the natural, chilled out look, he has given all the t-shirts a vintage wash giving them a buttery feel!

Some pictures from the event (to make y'all jealous) :P

(The 3rd shirt from the left is Imran's personal favourite!)

(Love how the cuff of the jeans has red accents. A unique idea!)

(Yes, he looks hot from all angles!) :D

(Sorry for the sad quality of this pic!)

So would we recommend his collection to our lovely readers?
If you are a college going, laid back guy and like Imran's cool style then definitely.
And we completely recommend the jeans as we personally love the quality and fit Denizen offers. Also the jeans from his collection are made while keeping in mind the usually big Indian hips :P (That's what Imran said! Don't catch our necks!) :D
And you definitely need to buy from this collection if you are a die hard fan of Imran Khan coz it is completely personalized by him. :)

The sad part was that his collection was only for men this time but he said he'll look into the female category for the Fall/Winter collection. Also check this collection out if you want boyfriend jeans or want to create some cool androgynous looks.

What do you think of his collection? Would you buy pieces from it?

Now about the most exciting part! Yeah even more exciting than Imran, was that we met so manly lovely fellow bloggers. It was an absolute treat! We had a blast talking about our blogs, fashion and of course gossip. We made some new friends and we totally loved the fact that the event was held on a one on one interaction with Imran only for bloggers.
Some awesome fellow bloggers we met were Ila Johari, Amena, Suniti, Karishma, Ritcha and BA
Do check out the blogs of these lovely ladies. :)

Silver Jhumkas - CBM

If there is something that makes us go weak in the knees, then it has to be Indian jewelry! What is not to love about our beautiful jhumkas and mang tikkas? Even Indian prints like paisleys, ikat, bandhini are to die for.
Recently we even saw how Indian fashion is catching up internationally like Christian Louboutin's Bollywood inspired Collection (here) and Karl Lagerfeld's Paris Bombay Collection (here).

We are starting this new section where we will feature one of our favourite, Cheap buy of the Month. Let us know how you like this new section :)

We absolutely love this pair. There is something about Indian jewelry that makes us go completely gaga.

Privacy! Is it a lot to ask?

In this city of dreams, with its light, passion and vigor, there seems nothing that cannot make us happy. Yet time and again, as much as we love Mumbai, we struggle to cope with how it works. Space, privacy are words unheard of over here.
People cannot keep a distance, cannot respect your privacy even if you are one of those kinds who hardly socialize. This constant need to know the details of all the people in your life might be frustrating someone beyond measure (example = us!). Really! What exactly is so interesting about what's going on in my love life? or what i'm studying? And now that you've poked and prodded me till I answer all your nosey questions, who gave you the right to judge? So i'm just doing ordinary B.A. while your boy is doing engineering? Well! Congo aunty and thanks for the unasked information!
If invasion of mental privacy wasn't enough, the physical part comes in. You can practically never be alone! Most parents don't approve of closed doors of rooms, sitting at a cafe alone means getting weird glances, private time on trains, buses is a joke! So when? When can we just sit, with a cup of coffee, with mental and physical privacy and just be able to breathe?

                                                              Questions, questions!

On a lighter note we clicked these pictures before catching up with an old friend over the movie  'Ishqzaade'. Diana liked it, I didn't! Rare clash of opinions! :P Have you seen it yet? Share it with us in the comments section.

P.S. Thank you guys for showing us so much love in the blogging world. We love each of your comments and are grateful to come across so many awesome people :)

Trend Love.

The trends this summer are fun, colourful and just plain awesome! We thought of giving you a short report on the trends we are going gaga over. Trust us you will find something you just can't wait to try.

1. Pastel

Pastels are a re-occurring trend in summer fashion so it's no great surprise that they are back in vogue again in 2012. Feminine and pristine this trend is probably one of the most suited for summer.  Peppermint green, powder pink, sunflower yellow, crisp coral and frosty blue are some of the colours rocking the catwalks. What’s not to love?

Elie Saab Spring Summer 2012

2. Neon
If there was one predominant trend saturating the Summer 2012 it had to be NEON. After all the nude tones we’ve seen in the past few seasons, a bit of color is definitely refreshing. This summer the color splash is coming in with a bang. Summer’s 2012. This trend is all about going bold and bright. So have fun with neon! :)

# Tip: Pastels and Neons are poles apart yet they can be brought together in the color blocking trend. It can be worn in 3 variations pastel on pastel, neon on neon or pastel with neon. You can also use these colors as accents.

3. 1920's
The twenties has never been forgotten, at least fashion wise. Typically the 1920's style dress sits just below the knee or above the ankle. This old school trend is rocking our summer with prints, metallic tones and pastel colours being incorporated into the trend and it is one of the sultry and sexy styles for summer.  Every year we dig those Maxi dresses out from the back of our wardrobes and feel effortlessly elegant again. Our  favourite summer items the Maxi dress or midi length dress are so fantastically versatile. You can go from a day time look to an evening outfit with ease by simply changing your footwear from sandals to wedges.

Ralph Lauren Spring Summer 2012

4. Patterns
When do patterns ever go out of fashion? The summer was filled with patterns, some of which we liked and some just didn’t catch our fancy (eg: scarf print). Are you a print person like us?

 a. Conversation starters. (Tropical prints)
Wearing prints of food, animals or other objects are a playful way to bring print into your wardrobe this summer. Team it with vintage accessories and cat’s eye sunglasses and you are way to go!

Dolce Gabbana Spring Summer2012

b. Scarf print
This print has already taking over high street shops. Scarf print is a fantastic, quirky and affordable trend to keep on top of. It is more commonly featured on silk or sheer fabric and looks great worn formally. However it also looks just even for a casual look. Even though we are not huge fans of this trend the plus point is that you don’t need much accessorizing since the print itself makes a statement by itself.

c. Florals.
Florals always scream ‘summer’, don’t they?  Go for printed fabrics or choose decorative appliqué florals, anything goes. We have so many floral print clothes in our wardrobe that we can actually divide our wardrobe into 2 sections, florals and others! :P
So there is no stopping you taking the floral print and rocking it like you do every summer! But just always remember less is more when it comes to print.

d. Tribal prints:
For some reason whenever we here tribal prints we think of Africa. Happens to you too no? Animal prints and tribal patterns are as eye catching as ever this year. Think big zebra prints, khaki, shirts and jackets.

5. Oceans
Underwater world colors and prints, coral red, mermaid dresses has enabled fashion to finally find its Atlantis. Shimmery, shiny fabrics, scalloped trims and mermaid sequins teamed with lagoony hues are giving us that underwater love. This trend is our personal favourite. :D

6. Tangy Tangerines
You have got to accept Tangerine Tango is summer’s number one shade. And if tangerine isn’t your choice; there are plenty more orange hues to choose from. Go bold in full on orange in a jumpsuit or a flirty dress. Wear one color and look chic? How easy is that!

7. Peplum
Flirt without saying a word in this season’s peplum skirts, dresses and tops, defined by a short flared ruffle that sits at the natural waist. This added ruffle adds a perfect ladylike flair to your ensemble. Slimming your waistline and accentuating your beautiful, womanly curves at the same time. With peplum, your silhouette will be looking fit and curvaceous in seconds.
There are two versions: fitted and flared. If you want to show off an hourglass figure, choose a fitted peplum. Flared, on the other hand, will add curves to your hips and is the perfect choice for boy-shaped bodies.

Whew! That was one long post! Let us know which of these trends are you loving this summer! :)

Met Gala 2012 - Hot, Warm, Cold.

The Metropolitan Costume Institute Gala (Met Ball) also known as "Oscars of the East Coast", is an annual ball that celebrates the annual opening of the Metropolitan Museum's fashion exhibit .The red carpet evening where celebrities arrive dressed to impress is described as the fashion industry's "Night of Nights". This year's theme was “Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations”.
Here we'll give our individual opinions about the Met Gala 2012's Hot = awesome,  Warm = not too good, not too bad, Cold = horrible.

 They scorched the Red Carpet!
1.Carrey Mulligan.

The British actress looked sensational wearing a custom two-tone gold-and-silver Prada halter dress covered with paillettes. Her dress with a pleated detail at the back was styled with satin Prada pumps and a simple updo with a rockabilly twist.
Both : She killed us with her look!

2. January Jones.

January Jones picked a bright yellow Versace number for this evening's Met Gala.
Both : We have developed a crush on
her! She nailed it with her structured dress, the color looks beautiful on her and her turquoise jewellery works with the dress.

3.Camilla Belle

The actress looked stunning wearing a Ralph Lauren Spring 2012 gown. Her ivory tulle beaded dress was teamed with Ralph Lauren vintage collection art deco jewels. Ralph Lauren collection champagne python sandal with bamboo heel completed her look.
Both : With the right twist of vintage and class Camilla look was fab. We love the styling which included a sleek side bun, shimmer copper eyes and that hot chocolate lip colour.

4.Jessica Stam.
Camilla Wore a pale blue Dior Couture, with stacked arm candy on either sides. Top bun, complementing makeup and earring completed the look.
Both : This lady undoubtedly stole the show with her awesomeness. Her makeup, her jewellry  and her dress was to the top. It's unfortunate that no one appreciated as much as she deserved!
5. Solange Knowles

Knowles wore a Rachel Roy sunny yellow peplum gown with gold accessories. She kept it simple with natural makeup and hair.

6. Jessica Pare

Jessica wore a gold sequin L'Wren Scott gown. Her slicked-back hair left ample room to showcase a pair of  stud earrings.A sleek black clutch in hand finished the look.
Both : The newcomer made a stunning arrival at the Met Gala in a gold-sequin gown. The scoop neck and curve-conscious fit created a sexy hourglass silhouette. She looks ravishing, need we say more?

Both : She looks drop dead gorgeous in that outfit. The accessories, hair, makeup was to the mark.

Hilary Swank in Michael Kors red gown. The earrings, beutiful waves and clutch added to the look.
Diana : Loved the side swept hair, earrings and the red gown was gorgeous.

2. Marion Cotillard.

Marion Cotillard in Dior and black accessories.
Diana: Love the sheer, two toned gown. She looks adorable in the pixie hair do.
Rachana: Love, love, love the gown but the hair looked kind of drab and the accessories didn't do much good either.

3. Coco Rocha

Coco Rocha in Vintage Givenchy and Sergio Rossi satin platform pumps and a gold clutch
Diana: Such a beautiful woman but what's wit the outfit? She could do so much better! Love the hair though.
Rachana: The colours, the print, the shoes and that gorgeous pink streaks are my absolute favourites. I think this look should definitely be in the 'hot' category.

4. Karolina Kurkova

Karolina Kurkova is in Rachel Zoe's custom-made gold-sequined gown. The supermodel topped it  with a coordinating turban and finished it with a display of diamond bangles and rings.

These are the people who gave us cold feet! :O
